How Raymond is powering its e-commerce fulfillment for a seamless customer experience

In an age when “buy online, delivered in hours” is no longer an aspirational tagline but a baseline expectation, Indian fashion stalwart Raymond is taking significant strides to ensure that its online journey is not just successful—but seamless. The recent strategic partnership with third-party logistics specialist Emiza presents a telling case study of how a heritage brand is reinventing its backend operations to deliver on its premium promise in the digital world.

The Raymond legacy meets the digital frontier

Raymond, long known for its fabrics, men’s apparel and lifestyle brands such as Park Avenue, ColorPlus, Parx and Ethnix, has been built on a foundation of trust, quality and a wide Indian retail footprint.
Yet, as consumer preferences shift ever more rapidly toward online shopping and faster delivery, the challenge has become not just “have a D2C website” but “deliver the right product, in the right package, to the right place, at the right time and make the experience feel premium.”

Raymond itself has already been advancing its omnichannel strategy—integrating stores and online, connecting inventories, and tapping into a network of over 1,500 exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) across India. But that is only half the story: successful online fulfillment is now a supply-chain game as much as a brand-and-marketing game.

The Emiza partnership: a strategic logistics play

In November 2025, Raymond announced a tie-up with Emiza under which Emiza will manage end-to-end fulfilment for Raymond’s full online portfolio—spanning the brothers and sister brands Park Avenue, ColorPlus, Parx, Ethnix and Raymond’s D2C site.

Some of the key pillars of the partnership:

  • Emiza deploys its nationwide network of over 24 fulfilment centres across 12+ cities to handle ~1.45 million annual shipments for Raymond’s D2C and marketplace operations.
  • The scope covers warehousing, packaging aligned to Raymond’s premium brand identity, and intelligent order fulfillment—including routing D2C orders from the nearest Raymond store to optimise last-mile delivery timelines.
  • Performance targets include reducing average delivery timelines by 20%, boosting order accuracy beyond 99.7%, and lowering returns by approximately 15%.
  • Emiza will also manage marketplace claim workflows for Raymond, minimising losses from third-party platforms.

From Raymond’s viewpoint, the move is part of its digital-first acceleration: “As consumer preferences shift towards seamless online experiences, it’s imperative for us to strengthen our backend operations,” said Ravi Hudda, Chief Digital & Information Officer, Raymond.

And from Emiza’s side: “We are committed to delivering precision, speed and scalability through our tech-driven fulfilment network. This partnership reinforces our mission to empower iconic Indian brands with a robust digital supply-chain infrastructure tailored for the new-age consumer,” noted Ajay Rao, Founder & CEO, Emiza.

How the operational engine works: key logistics levers

Let’s unpack the operational mechanics behind the scenes of Raymond’s renewed online fulfilment blueprint.

1. Distributed fulfilment footprint

Emiza’s location-based network of fulfilment centres creates the capacity for faster, more localised dispatches. By placing stock closer to the consumer, Raymond can shave off last-mile delivery times and respond better to regional surges. For Raymond’s D2C orders, the “smart routing from the nearest Raymond store” element is particularly interesting: rather than shipping everything from a single central warehouse, pairing with stores with available inventory shortens delivery distances and accelerates fulfilment flows.

2. Intelligent inventory management & accuracy

Achieving 99.7 %+ order accuracy is no small feat in apparel retail—where multiple sizes, colours, returns and exchanges complicate fulfilment. By moving to a partner whose systems and processes are built for e-commerce scale, Raymond is addressing one of its biggest digital hurdles.

Additionally, inventory optimisation—avoiding excessive safety stock, yet guaranteeing the right SKUs in the right place—underpins both faster delivery and reduced write-offs. While the publicly-released account does not deep-dive into Raymond’s full WMS/OMS stack, the target metrics signal a shift toward data-driven fulfilment.

3. Premium packaging & brand alignment

In e-commerce, the unboxing moment matters—especially for a premium brand like Raymond. The collaboration specifies customised packaging to maintain brand identity even when sold online. This ensures that the online experience feels as elevated as the in-store experience—crucial when the product is part of a premium lifestyle proposition.

4. Return management & marketplace claim handling

Returns are an often-overlooked part of the cost base in apparel e-commerce. By targeting a ~15 % lower return rate, Raymond is aiming to control what can become a significant burden in D2C / marketplace operations. Also, with an increasing fraction of orders coming via marketplaces, managing claims, disputes and losses on those platforms is critical. Emiza’s role in managing those workflows allows Raymond to focus on brand-front operations and customer acquisition.

5. Scalability through peak-season readiness

The partnership is built to absorb peak-season surges of up to 75 %, meaning inventory, labour and process flows must scale dynamically. This readiness is particularly relevant for fashion brands that have high seasonality around festivals, wedding season, shipping, and glitzy sale events.
By entrusting fulfilment to a specialist partner with scale and tech-backing, Raymond mitigates the risk of bottlenecks, stock-outs or delivery failures when volumes spike.

Challenges and watch-points

Of course, executing an elevated fulfilment proposition is not without its risks. As Raymond and Emiza scale the operation, here are some areas to watch:

  • Data integration and visibility: Synchronising inventory across stores, fulfilment centres and online platforms demands strong OMS/WMS integration and real-time visibility. Any lag or mismatch can lead to overselling or delayed shipments.
  • Last-mile reliability across India: Even with fulfilment centres closer to consumers, last-mile remains India’s most volatile logistic link. Especially for smaller towns or rural regions, maintaining consistency in “fast” delivery will still be challenging.
  • Maintaining premium experience at scale: As volumes increase, maintaining custom-packaging quality and premium delivery standards can be difficult. Scaling without diluting brand value should be a focus.
  • Return cost control: Lowering returns is cited as a goal—but garment e-commerce return rates remain high. Achieving a 15% reduction is ambitious and will depend on quality control, accurate representations, size-fit optimisation and post-sales service.
  • Marketplace versus D2C balance: With marketplace operations in the mix, margins, governance and data control can differ from a pure D2C arrangement. Balancing the two channels while preserving brand equity is key.

In summary

For Raymond, the partnership with Emiza signals a clear step toward transforming its fulfilment engine from “capable” to “world-class”. It is no longer enough just to have nice storefronts and good designs—the customer now expects the entire online purchase journey to reflect the brand’s identity of trust, quality and excellence. By placing logistics and fulfilment at the heart of its digital-first journey, Raymond is aligning front-end brand promise with back-end operational credibility.

From an industry perspective, this collaboration offers a template: heritage fashion brand meets tech-enabled logistics partner; distributed fulfilment network meets store-based fulfilment routing; premium packaging meets e-commerce speed; omnichannel meets fulfilment agility. The logistics of the brand experience, quite literally, are being powered up.
