Madhya Pradesh (MP) govt’s flagship event – ‘Magnificent Madhya Pradesh – Investors’ Summit 2019′ held at Brilliant Convention Center in Indore on Friday saw participation of several stalwart industry leaders like Godrej’s Adi Godrej, Bharti’s Rakesh Bharti Mittal, CII Chief Vikram Kirloskar, ITC Chairman Sanjeev Puri, India Cement’s N Srinivasan, Sun Pharma’s Dilip Sanghvi, Trident Group’s Rajinder Gupta and others in the one-day event.
MP CM Kamalnath in his address said, “The event is not for namesake and it is not a platform for signing of MoUs in which deals worth thousands of crores are made and are far from ground reality. Our goal is that actual investments are made, more employment opportunities are generated in the state.”
He further added, “I won’t give any fancy figure of investments here but I commit our government will provide 2 lakh jobs to youths in the state.”
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani in a video message said that Reliance will open 45 logistics centers to facilitate its supply chain.
SR Mohanty MP’s Chief Secretary said at the summit that the geographical location of Madhya Pradesh makes it perfectly suitable destination for a logistics hub.
This is the reason why the state government is serious about creating such hubs at select places. He said that effective suggestions are expected from industrialists in this regard. Mohanty was speaking at a parallel session of MPLA Logistics Hub at ‘Magnificent MP-2019’ in Indore.
The Chief Secretary mentioned the special characteristics of Madhya Pradesh in terms of warehousing. He said that the target is to reduce the logistics cost by 10 percent by the year 2022.
Mr Mohanty said that Madhya Pradesh is surrounded by large states in terms of population. It is located approximately at equal distance from important states. In view of these facts, the situation of the state is important from the point of view of logistics. Another important aspect is the adequate availability of land in the state.
Mr Mohanty referred to the digitization work undertaken by the Revenue Department. He hoped that in view of all the above facts, Madhya Pradesh will become a logistics hub with everyone’s efforts. He said that positive steps have been taken in the state through policy relaxation.
Madhya Pradesh most suitable to become a logistics hub: Adani
Referring to the changes in Singapore, Pranav Adani of Adani Wilmar said that being the heart of the country, we can reach Madhya Pradesh from anywhere within 24 hours. Adani emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is very suitable to become a logistics hub and establishment of industrial corridor will prove useful here. Problems related to lack of cold storage were also discussed during the session.
Government and industrialists can make concrete logistics plans: Taneja
Gaurav Taneja of Ernst & Young said that the government and industrialists can together make a solid logistics plan. Referring to various aspects related to transport, he expected to take necessary steps in this regard. Taneja while articulating the importance of skilling, said that logistics needs skilled people.
CEO of Walmart India Krish Iyer also acknowledged the importance of making the state as a logistics hub for the betterment of businesses.
The programme ended up with the Chief Secretary addressing the doubts of the industrialists who came in large numbers, assured them that industrialists will be provided all necessary facilities in the context of developing the state as a logistics hub.
