The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway recorded a new high on the graph as it earned INR 72.52 crore from the 0.805 million tonnes freight loading in the month of October. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO Manjunath Kanamdi said it represented the highest monthly earnings ever that covered 66 rakes containing petroleum products.
The organisation documented a growth of 14.18% in tonnage and 44.3% in revenue as compared to the numbers from October 2020. The aggregate earnings for the current year accrued to INR 381.40 crore while the parcel segment of the division accrued INR 1.38 crore in the month. A considerable passenger income growth was also recorded through all the important stations of the Mysuru division creating returns of Rs. 22.34 crore along with a total ‘reserved’ revenue segment touching highest ever INR 18.70 crore.
Another stream of revenue flowed in from the 14,938 cases of illegal travelling generating INR 71 lakhs as penalty, another highest record in the month of October. Mysuru and Hubli are important tourist destinations, however, these divisions of the South Western Railways mostly cater to freight movement.
