DP World launches historic FIX1 service, paving the way for direct shipping services between Chennai and China

DP World, a global logistics provider, has recently inaugurated the Far East India Express (FIX1) service, establishing a direct container shipping route between Chennai and China. This ground breaking service, which commenced on September 11, eliminates the need for traditional transshipment ports and reduces transit time by eight days.

FIX1 is a collaborative effort involving four consortium partners: Sinotrans deploying two vessels, and TS Line, Sealead, and SITC each contributing one vessel to the fleet. The service’s rotation has been strategically designed to enhance supply chain efficiency, encompassing Ports Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, and Shekou in China, as well as Chennai and Vizag ports in India, and Port Kelang in Malaysia (East Bound).

DP World Chennai will now offer the FIX1 service as the third weekly service to the East region. This service will greatly benefit large enterprises, as well as SMEs and MSME clusters in the South and East Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha. DP World’s extensive multimodal network will facilitate connectivity for these clusters through road and rail links to the port terminal.
