The four-day COVID-19 vaccination camp held by Delhi Customs Brokers Association (DCBA) at New Customs House Delhi from June 15 to 18, 2021 for Customs Brokers, their staff and family members, concluded successfully.
More than 600 people were vaccinated during the vaccination drive. Supported by the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Customs (Delhi Zone), the vaccination camp was conducted by Medanta Hospital.
The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Commissioner of Customs (Delhi Zone) along with Principal Commissioner of Customs, Air Cargo Import and Commissioner of Customs, Airport & General.
Highlighting the urgent requirements of the vaccination camp, Santosh Kumar Choudhary, Secretary, DCBA informed that a large number of Customs Brokers, their staff and family members had been hit by the deadly coronavirus and several people including very young entrepreneurs have lost their lives from this sector.
“At this critical scenario, at present the only way out is to vaccinate the Customs Brokers community to keep the logistics/supply chain services unhindered,” he observed.
After realising the huge importance of the vaccination initiative taken by DCBA to protect the frontline warriors from logistics & supply chain sector, the association siad that it would organise more such camps at different ICDs in Delhi NCR Region. Dates and venues would be announced soon.
While commenting on the responses from the trade, the secretary shared that it was highly satisfactory.
He said that DCBA’s prime focus was to save the Customs Brokers fraternity from the grip and fatality of Coronavirus. At the same time, the objective of the vaccination drive was to contribute to the Prime Minister’s call for making the nation Corona-free.
Mr Choudhary thanked the office Bearers and members of the Managing Committee who took different initiatives to make the camp a success.
He also extended his gratitude to the office of the Chief Commissioner of Customs (Delhi Zone) and Commissioner of Customs (Airport & General) for providing space and giving guidance for the noble cause, and also to the team Medanta and Media persons for their vital role in creating awareness in fighting the pandemic.
Customs Brokers are one of the vital components of the logistics & supply chain system and recognised as frontline warriors in respect of the fighting against COVID-19 pandemic through their immensely valuable services. Risking their lives, the Customs Brokers are working 24×7 to clear all urgent Covid related cargo/material including oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, PPE kits, vaccines, etc from airports, ports and ICDs.
