TK Ramachandran appointed as the new Secretary of MoPSW

In a bureaucratic reshuffle, the central Govt has transferred Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and named T K Ramachandran, as the new Secretary of MoPSW in the Ministry.

A Tamil Nadu cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, T K Ramachandran is currently working as the Chairman of V O Chidambaranar Port Authority, one of the 12 major ports of India owned by the Centre.

Ramachandran is on Central deputation (five years) from 28 December 2018 as Chairman, V O Chidambaranar Port Authority during which he has been promoted first to Additional Secretary rank and then to Secretary rank on 19 October 2022.

While Ramachandran’s Central deputation will end in December this year, it remains unclear if he will remain in the Centre beyond December this year. He will superannuate on 7 September 2025.

In the bureaucratic reshuffle, Pant has been appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare. He will take on his role as the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health, and Family Welfare from 31st July, 2023.

He is a Rajasthan cadre AS officer, who was appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways on 1 February this year. Prior to that, Pant worked as OSD in the same ministry from 1 December 2022.
