CMA CGM Air Cargo Expands Fleet and Initiates Transpacific Route in Summer 2024

In a strategic move set to redefine the landscape of air freight transportation, CMA CGM Air Cargo announces its foray into the transpacific route, connecting Asia to North America, slated for commencement in the summer of 2024. This significant leap forward underscores the company’s commitment to advancing its global reach and solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the air cargo industry.

Central to this milestone is the acquisition of two state-of-the-art Boeing B777-200F aircraft, scheduled for delivery this year. The inaugural aircraft, expected in June, will herald the launch of operations on the transpacific route, just in time to cater to the anticipated surge in demand during the peak season. The subsequent delivery, slated for the fourth quarter of 2024, will further bolster the company’s capacity to serve this vital corridor.

The deployment of these aircraft signifies not only a strategic expansion of CMA CGM Air Cargo’s network but also underscores its unwavering commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its clientele. With the first B777-200F connecting key airports in Hong Kong, Chicago, and Seoul, and the second facilitating seamless transit between mainland China and North America, the company is poised to offer unparalleled access to major markets on both sides of the Pacific.

This move is part of a broader fleet expansion strategy aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and meeting growing customer demands. Looking ahead, CMA CGM Air Cargo is set to further bolster its fleet with the addition of a third B777-200F in the first quarter of 2025. This strategic augmentation will not only extend the company’s reach but also ensure ample capacity to cater to a diverse range of cargo requirements.

However, the company’s ambitions extend beyond the immediate horizon. In a visionary move, CMA CGM Air Cargo has positioned itself as the launch customer for the cargo version of the Airbus A350, slated for delivery in 2026. Recognized for its exceptional fuel efficiency and reduced environmental footprint, the A350F epitomizes the company’s commitment to sustainable transport practices. By embracing cutting-edge technology, CMA CGM Air Cargo aims to set new standards for environmental stewardship in the air cargo industry.

Damien Mazaudier, CEO of CMA CGM Air Cargo, expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s latest endeavors, stating, “Our expansion into the Transpacific Lane marks a turning point in the company’s history by connecting a new continent to our network and aligns with the ambition of the CMA CGM Group to offer a range of solutions to its customers.”

Indeed, the introduction of new aircraft to its fleet and the initiation of the transpacific route underscore CMA CGM Air Cargo’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer-centricity. As the company continues to chart new territories and expand its global footprint, it remains poised to revolutionize the air cargo industry and set new benchmarks for excellence in service delivery.
