Central Railways achieve best ever freight load in a month, masses 5.44 million tonnes of freight

Marking yet another milestone, The Central Railway (CR) surpasses its previous records of carrying best ever freight load in a single month.

In September 2021 the CR has loaded 5.44 million tonnes of freight, which is the best ever in a single month.

The railway has achieved a rise of 35.6 per cent of extra loading of freight within the first two quarters of 2012-22 as in comparison with the corresponding interval final 12 months.

As per the CR officers, in between April – September 2021, the CR loaded 34.85 million tonnes of products as towards 25.71 million tonnes of products in the identical interval the earlier 12 months.

Anil Kumar Lahoti, common supervisor, CR, stated, “Freight transportation by rail is the safest, quickest and environment friendly option available for customers and the CR is exploring all possible ways to increase revenue. Despite monsoon, team CR put in their best and captured new traffic to boost freight loading performance.”

The Railways has fully utilized the pandemic in enhancing its freight services. The Railway Ministry in the past year and half have given number of concessions and discounts to attract customers to its rail freight services. Furthermore, strong emergence of business development units in zones and divisions, constant dialogue with the industry and logistics service providers, and efforts put in to enhance the speed of freight trains in the existing rail network has been helping railways to achieve robust freight business.
