Amazon India’s ‘Great Indian Festival’ is a reason to cheer for lakhs of customers in the nation with its huge discounts. This year, the customers had another reason to be happy as the e-commerce giant provided 1-day delivery services to nearly 97% of its serviceable pin codes across India during festive season to prime customers, the company said.
Dr. Karuna Shankar Pande, the Director of Amazon Logistics in India highlighted the strategies that made this landmark feat possible. He revealed that they used a combination of land and Amazon Air for deliveries, enabling them to successfully deliver within one day to approximately 97% of serviceable pin codes during festive season to prime customers.
Amazon’s strategic partnerships and innovations have also played an important role in achieving this accomplishment, including Amazon’s collaboration with Indian Railways and the addition of 1 lakh seasonal associates to its operational network. Furthermore, Amazon has expanded its delivery network through agreements with India Post and collaborations with delivery service entrepreneurs.
Pande said, “Our overall objective for this festive season is to enhance speed and reliability for our customers.”
To ensure operational efficiency and a superior customer experience, Amazon actively invests in technology, logistics, and infrastructure. In fact, Amazon has made significant investments in machine learning to improve address accuracy, especially in cases of mismatch or incomplete information. The company also employs GPS technology to track truck movements and provide support services in case of breakdowns.
Amazon’s annual festive sale, which concluded last week, reported a staggering 9.5 crore customer visits in the first 48 hours. Over 10 lakh customers received same-day delivery across India, with approximately 80% of total orders originating from non-metro cities. This achievement underscores Amazon’s commitment to offering speedy and reliable services, making online shopping even more convenient for Indian consumers.
