Vijayawada Airport Seeks Customs-Notified Cargo Center to Enhance Export Potential

Andhra Pradesh, a major food production hub in India, urges the need for a customs-notified cargo center at Vijayawada International Airport to boost exports, says the A.P. Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation.

In a letter to Airports Authority of India Chairman Sanjeev Kumar, the Chambers highlight the state’s prominence in agri-business and advanced food processing.

The absence of a customs-notified cargo center forces exporters to use Hyderabad airport, incurring extra costs and time. The Chambers propose that existing passenger and cargo flights could transport international cargo if the center is customs-notified, especially with the upcoming mango season presenting significant export opportunities.

The A.P. Chambers also signed an MoU with Vinh Long Trade Promotion Centre in Vietnam for bilateral trade and tourism promotion.
