Due to COVID-related travel difficulties, Tiaca and its event partner, Messe München have postponed their plans to hold Transport Logistic Americas Forum and Tiaca’s executive summit in San Francisco.
The event, which was scheduled to be held next month, has now been postponed until 22-25 March next year.
The September conference was primed to be the first of its kind: called 2 + 2, it was to involve two days of conference following by two days of an “innovation journey” with Silicon Valley companies.
This rescheduling will mean Tiaca is set to host two events in 2022, potentially decreasing its revenues for the year as companies are likely to choose to spend on one, rather than two Tiaca events.
The remaining ‘physical’ air cargo conference this year is IATA’s World Cargo Symposium, currently scheduled for 12-14 October in Istanbul. IATA seems confident the event will go ahead.
Messe München ,one of the leading exhibition organisers, which now runs the bulk of air cargo events, having acquired Air Cargo India and Air Cargo Africa, was thought to have made the postponement following the US’s decision to keep travel bans in place for longer, as Covid continues to disrupt.
“With the recent announcement by the US administration that the existing travel ban on people arriving from the UK, EU, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, and others will not be lifted in the foreseeable future meant that it is impossible to welcome all delegates who have indicated their desire to attend,” Messe München said.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this postponement causes, but I’m sure you will agree with us that it was the right decision to take”, it added.
