The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, in association with the Commerce & Export Promotion (C&EP) Department, Government of Telangana, organised the PM GatiShakti & LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop for Southern States in Hyderabad. The workshop brought together senior government officials and stakeholders from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep, along with representatives from industry bodies, trade associations and the logistics sector.
The discussions centred on strengthening logistics efficiency, advancing integrated infrastructure planning, improving multimodal connectivity and facilitating the seamless movement of goods across the southern region. The workshop also provided a platform for participating States and Union Territories to exchange best practices, address common logistics challenges and explore opportunities for greater inter-state collaboration.
Telangana hosted the Southern Regional Workshop for the first time, underscoring the State’s growing focus on strengthening its logistics and supply chain ecosystem. The event also supported the broader implementation of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, which seeks to promote integrated infrastructure development and improve logistics efficiency through coordinated planning.
The workshop aligns closely with Telangana’s Vision 2047, which seeks to position the State as a trillion-dollar economy, a leading manufacturing and services hub, and a globally competitive logistics gateway. With logistics recognised as a key enabler of economic growth, the State is focusing on reducing logistics costs, improving multimodal connectivity, attracting investments and enabling the efficient movement of goods within Telangana and across the region.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana has undertaken an ambitious infrastructure and logistics development agenda. Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, has provided strategic direction and support to initiatives aimed at strengthening the State’s logistics ecosystem and enhancing its competitiveness.
As part of this roadmap, Telangana is developing the State Logistics Policy 2.0, the State Integrated Logistics Master Plan, and City Logistics Plans for Hyderabad and Warangal. The State is also progressing the development of a Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Manoharabad, while undertaking initiatives to strengthen air cargo infrastructure and develop skills for the air logistics sector. Together, these initiatives are aimed at creating a more integrated and efficient multimodal logistics network.
Telangana has also been a consistent participant in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) assessment and has been recognised as a High Performer among landlocked States. The State intends to build on this performance through policy interventions, infrastructure investments, technology adoption, multimodal integration, capacity building and institutional reforms.
The PM GatiShakti & LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop therefore served as an important platform for strengthening cooperation among Southern States and Union Territories and identifying strategies to improve regional logistics efficiency, connectivity and competitiveness. The discussions are expected to contribute to India’s broader objective of integrated infrastructure development and sustained economic growth.
The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Nikhil Chakravarthi, IA&AS, Director of Industries and Export Commissioner, Government of Telangana. Other distinguished participants included Shri Vinay Thakur, Director General, BISAG-N, MeitY, Government of India; Shri Rakesh Kumar Meena, Director, DPIIT; Shri Sagar Kadu, Director, DPIIT; Shri Praveen Kumar Sahukari, Deputy Secretary, DPIIT, Government of India; and Shri Sudhin Paul, Deputy Director, Commerce & Export Promotion (C&EP) Department, Government of Telangana.
The event was also attended by Shri. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Director, C&EP Department, and Shri Auszad Shaik, Director/Vice President, Logistics & Supply Chain, C&EP Department, Government of Telangana, alongside senior officials, industry representatives, trade associations and logistics stakeholders from the participating States and Union Territories.
