App-based cab drivers, auto-rickshaw drivers, goods transport operators and delivery partners across Telangana will observe a statewide flash strike on Wednesday, disrupting ride-hailing, food delivery, grocery delivery and logistics services during peak hours.
The one-day “Breakdown Flash Strike”, called by the Telangana App-Based Drivers Forum (TADF), is aimed at pressing the state government and aggregator platforms to address long-pending demands related to wages, worker welfare and fare regulation.
The protest is expected to impact services offered by platforms including Ola, Uber, Rapido, Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, Blinkit and Porter.
According to Shaik Salauddin, President of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), more than two lakh gig and platform workers are expected to participate in the protest across the state.
The workers are demanding the introduction of a minimum base fare, revision of per-kilometre and per-minute rates for app-based transport services, and immediate notification of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Rules. They have also sought the constitution of a welfare board and implementation of minimum fares under the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines (MVAG), 2025, instead of allowing aggregator companies to determine fares independently.
The strike will be demand-based, with drivers and delivery partners logging off aggregator platforms during peak booking hours. As a result, commuters are likely to face longer waiting times, limited cab and auto availability, and delays in food, grocery and parcel deliveries.
The forum has warned that if the government and aggregator companies fail to address their demands, the protest will escalate into an indefinite statewide strike after August 8.
