TCI’s ‘Safe Safar’ educates about health and safety of transportation sector

Homegrown logistics company Transport Corporation of India (TCI) and TCI Express, the market leader in express distribution in India organised the official launch & strengthening of ‘TCI Safe Safar’ as part of their HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) initiative. In 2019, the ceremony was inaugurated by the Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Honorable Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises inaugurated the event at his residence.

“With the alarming increase in road accidents, injuries and fatalities on Indian roads, it is important that we take decisive steps against irresponsible driving. Road safety is a shared responsibility and with TCI Safe Safar we are committed to the Government’s initiatives towards road safety concerns in building a healthier and safer nation.”

The initiative tags along a message on Health and Road Safety for the entire logistics and transportation industry. For this purpose, a specially fabricated, environment friendly CNG truck has been designed, that highlights the importance of health and road safety through engaging nukkad nataks, posters and quizzes. This truck will be travelling throughout India.

Commenting further on the initiative Mr. Chander Agarwal, Director TCI & Managing Director TCI Express said, “Every year, more than 1,50,000 Indians lose their lives in road accidents. Every accident starts a vicious cycle of trauma for countless people, and the Safe Safar campaign was initiated to reduce the numbers of such accidents through a safe-driving awareness. We have reached out to thousands of drivers across the country, including non-TCI personnel as well.”

So far, TCI Safe Safar has successfully conducted 75+ events across 40+ cities, covering approximately 20,000 drivers, 30,000 pledges, reaching 10.7 lacs people Pan-India. In the coming years, we aim to cover all cities and educate maximum people about the importance of Road Safety and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance).
