Leading air freight forwarder Skyways Air Services Pvt td received its GDP(Good Distribution Practices) compliance certification under international body WHO (World Health Organisation) norms until 31.12.2023, to fulfill its growing global commitment for storage and transportation of the COVID- 19 vaccine, as well as other temperature controlled pharmaceuticals.
The certification was completed after detailed scrutiny of various parameters in storage, handling, documentation, transportation and trainings modules which covered dedicated personnel assigned to the temperature controlled shipments in the range of 2 – 8 degrees and 15 – 25 degrees.
With this certification “Skyways air services pvt ltd” joins a select band of Indian logistics companies which are fully compliant to handle covid-19 vaccine and temperature controlled pharmacueticals.
GDP is a quality warranty system, which includes requirements for purchase, receiving, storage and export of drugs intended for human consumption.
In order to ensure the quality and integrity of wholesale distribution of medicinal products, which is an important activity in the integrated supply chain management,the Commission has published guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of medicinal products for human use.
GDP supervises and regulates the division and movement of pharmaceutical products from the premises of the manufacturer of medicinal products, or another central point, to the end user thereof, or to an intermediate point by means of various transport methods, via various storage and/or health establishments.
Skyways Group has been very active in ramping up facilities and collaborating in new initiatives for the unprecedented vaccine rollout that is expected.
Recently, the company had signed an MoU with budget airline SpiceJet in a joint initiative towards transporting the COVID-19 vaccine across India.
While Spicejet will provide connectivity across its pan-India network with full temperature mapping controls, Skyways air services Pvt ltd will provide cold chain transportation and storage along with dedicated last mile connectivity.
Skyways has also set up a control tower to manage and monitor end to end movement of the vaccine. They have also created enough air cargo capacity to handle large volumes of vaccine as it is ready for exports from India.
