Qatar Airways Cargo celebrates two decades of Successful operations

Qatar Airways Cargo, known as QR Cargo, over the years, has undergone a remarkable transformation and expansion, establishing itself as the premier global air cargo carrier with an extensive fleet and a robust worldwide network.

In commemoration of this remarkable journey, the airline takes a moment to reflect on its significant achievements and pioneering initiatives.

In the year 2003, QR Cargo achieved a pivotal milestone by receiving its inaugural freighter, an Airbus A300-600 converted from a passenger aircraft. This marked the commencement of regular service routes to key destinations like Amsterdam and Chennai, swiftly expanding to include New Delhi.

Currently, the cargo airline operates across more than 160 destinations, utilizing the belly-hold capacity of over 200 passenger aircraft and maintaining a fleet of 31 dedicated cargo freighters.

Elisabeth Oudkerk, Senior Vice-President for Cargo Sales and Network Planning, expressed her joy and gratitude, stating, “As Qatar Airways Cargo marks two decades of freighter operations, we want to extend our sincere thanks to our valued customers for their unwavering trust in our services. We take immense pride in our history and look forward to contributing to the promising future of the air freight industry.”

Over the past two decades, QR Cargo has consistently expanded its fleet, network, and product offerings, firmly establishing itself as the world’s leading cargo carrier.

With the introduction of its Next Generation strategy, QR Cargo has redefined its role in the air cargo sector, bringing a fresh and innovative approach to business throughout its network and operations.

This transformation encompasses the enhancement of products and services, the adoption of cutting-edge technology, a strong commitment to sustainability and diversity, investments in existing talent, and the attraction of new talent.

During this comprehensive shift in corporate mindset known as The Next Generation, QR Cargo has achieved noteworthy milestones.

These accomplishments include becoming the first airline worldwide to attain the full suite of IATA CEIV certifications, establishing the Kigali Africa hub in collaboration with RwandAir, and introducing innovative product lines such as Pharma, Fresh, Courier, and SecureLift.

Furthermore, QR Cargo’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the customer experience and fostering innovation has solidified its position as the preferred partner for businesses worldwide.

As an early adopter of digital transformation, the airline has successfully unveiled its new website, introduced a cutting-edge e-booking portal called the Digital Lounge, and forged strategic partnerships with marketplace platforms, delivering added value to its clientele.

Moreover, QR Cargo has made a firm commitment to sustainability through its WeQare program, actively championing initiatives such as ‘Rewild the Planet’ and introducing a CO2 emission calculator.

As QR Cargo embarks on its next decade, its steadfast focus on digitalization and sustainability remains resolute. The airline eagerly anticipates maintaining its leadership in the realm of air cargo innovation and customer-centric solutions.
