The New Mangalore Port Authority on Thursday, hosted the PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Maritime Regional Summit 2022 in association with the Mormugao and Cochin Port Authority. The Summit was organised to create increased awareness about the National Master Plan, and went according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
It was attended by private as well as public sector stakeholders of the industry, port users, port authorities and officers, roadways, railways, state government departments, trade bodies, associations, shipping and logistics industries Karnataka Maritime Board, including representatives from DPIIT.
The summit was inaugurated by A V Ramana, Chairman, NMPA; Kapil Mohan, Additional Chief Secretary & Chairman, Multimodal Committee for Port Road and Rail Connectivity for Karnataka; Vinit Kumar, Chairman, Multimodal Connectivity Committee for MoPSW; Jeyakumar, Special Officer, CUMTA; Vikas Nalwar, Deputy Chairperson, Cochin Port; Rajesh Menon, Associate Director and Subject Matter Expert, DPIIT Logistics Division, MoCI; KG Nath, Deputy Chairperson, NMPA; GP Rai, Deputy Chairperson, Mormugao Port and Jeethan Sequeria, Director, KCCI.
Under PM Gati Shakti NMP, the MoPSW has identified 101 projects worth Rs 56,831 crore, for implementation by 2024, out of which, 13 projects have been completed. These projects will support the faster and more efficient movement of cargo, leading to an overall reduction in logistics costs.
