Logistics as a Business Differentiator: How Acer India is Building a Future-Ready Supply Chain

Acer, one of the top technology brands in the world, has played a key role in shaping India’s consumer electronics market. Central to its growth trajectory is a supply chain and logistics strategy that has transformed from a support function into a genuine business advantage. In this conversation with Sudhir Goel, Chief Business Officer, Acer India, we discuss how Acer has redefined its logistics and supply chain to meet multi-channel demands. From reverse logistics and partnerships with third-party logistics providers to eco-friendly packaging and the use of AI and analytics, this discussion provides insight into how Acer is developing a logistics network that prioritizes efficiency, customer satisfaction, and environmental responsibility.

At Acer, logistics and supply chain are fundamental to our business strategy, as the core of our business revolves around selling to customers and ensuring products reach them seamlessly. Over the years, we have evolved our supply chain from being a support function to a strategic differentiator, recognizing that robust logistics capabilities directly impact customer experience and business outcomes.

With delivery capabilities across more than 18,000 pin codes and warehouses, our logistics framework supports multiple product lines. Coordinating between the factories and manufacturing units, we focus on ensuring that inventory is available where demand is highest. Through advanced analytics and demand prediction modeling, we build agility into our supply chain, enabling us to meet customer requirements promptly and efficiently.

Losing a sale means missing out on a valuable business opportunity, particularly in an industry with extended upgrade cycles. Making sure products are available when and where customers need them is essential for maintaining satisfaction and loyalty. This underscores our view that logistics and supply chain management are more than operational support; they are strategic advantages that allow us to meet customer expectations and drive sustained business growth.

Each channel has distinct requirements, and at Acer, our supply chain has evolved with precision and agility to meet these diverse needs. In retail, consistent availability is vital, as stores need inventory at outlets and regional distributors for timely replenishment. Accurate demand forecasting helps maintain this flow and meet customer expectations.

E-commerce, by contrast, thrives on speed and flexibility. Fast delivery, often within a day, is key across platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and our own Acer.com, where personalization and quality service drive inventory and fulfillment planning.

To meet these varied demands, we’ve built a multi-layered supply chain ecosystem with specialized inventory planning, warehouse segmentation, and last-mile partners for each channel. Dedicated teams handle retail, e-commerce, D2C, and commercial operations with focused expertise.

Beyond individual customers, we also cater to large B2B orders, including deliveries to remote areas with full support and service. Our multitiered model allows us to plan for different volumes and customer needs, ensuring seamless experiences across all channels.

At Acer, data and real-time visibility play a critical role in how we manage inventory movement and demand forecasting. We leverage data to predict inventory needs and use real-time dashboards that provide clear insights into where stock levels are low or in excess. This enables us to proactively shift inventory from areas with high supply and low demand to locations where demand is high and stock is limited.

This visibility allows us to make both proactive and reactive decisions, ensuring that customer demand is met efficiently. For instance, during festive seasons like Onam in Kerala, one of the biggest sales periods, and during Diwali, we ensure sufficient stock availability by closely tracking demand patterns and adjusting inventory accordingly.

Predictability and data-driven insights are essential to our logistics and supply chain strategy. By using advanced analytics and monitoring systems, we can plan inventory movement optimally, account for regional nuances, and respond quickly to changes in demand. At Acer, this approach helps us enhance customer experience while ensuring that inventory planning is aligned with market dynamics and business objectives.
