JNPT bags the ‘Best Global Port in India’ Award

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India’s premier container port added yet another feather to its cap, as it was awarded the ‘Best Global Port in India’ at the prestigious 6th Atal Shastra Markenomy Award 2020.

JNPT bagged this prestigious recognition for the third time in a row. Deputy Conservator, Captain Amit Kapoor received the award on behalf of JNPT.

This is an acknowledgement of JNPT’s continuous efforts towards setting quality benchmarks for the port industry across the globe. The record is also a quintessence of operational excellence and JNPort’s commitment towards operating with an approach that promises efficiency, safety and reliability.

Over the decades, JNPT has systematically invested in improving its operating efficiency and handling capacity to enable seamless trade escalating its growth trajectory.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Navi Mumbai is the biggest container handling Port in India accounting for around 52% of the total containerized cargo volume, across the major ports of India. Commissioned on 26th May 1989, in less than three decades of its operations, JNPT has transformed from a bulk-cargo terminal to become the premier container port in the country.

Currently JNPT operates five container terminals: the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT), the Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), the Gateway Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. (GTIPL), Nhava Sheva International Gateway Terminal (NSIGT) and the newly commissioned Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Private Limited (BMCTPL).

The Port also has a Shallow Water Berth for general cargo and another Liquid Cargo Terminal which is managed by BPCL-IOCL consortium.
