India Post, Flipkart Join Forces to Expand Last-Mile Delivery Reach Nationwide

In a significant move to strengthen India’s e-commerce logistics ecosystem and boost last-mile delivery capabilities, the Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications has entered into an agreement with Flipkart India Private Limited for last-mile parcel delivery services.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager, Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Harvinder Kapur, Director – Commercial, Flipkart India Private Limited. The signing took place in the presence of Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager, Parcel and CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, Dippy Vankani, Director (Corporate Affairs), Flipkart India Private Limited, along with senior officials from both sides.

This partnership aims to combine the extensive reach and trusted delivery network of the Department of Posts with Flipkart’s strong foothold in India’s e-commerce market to deliver efficient, reliable, and customer-focused parcel services nationwide. Under the agreement, India Post will handle last-mile delivery for Flipkart shipments across the country.

A key feature of the collaboration is its nationwide reach. Flipkart will leverage India Post’s vast network to serve urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, including remote and underserved regions. The agreement covers delivery of both prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels, along with OTP-based authentication and real-time tracking capabilities.

The partnership is expected to improve delivery speed, enhance coordination, and enable smoother technology integration, resulting in a better overall customer experience. It also reinforces the logistics backbone supporting India’s fast-growing e-commerce sector.

With access to more than 1.6 lakh post offices, Flipkart stands to significantly expand its serviceability and delivery efficiency, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach locations. At the same time, the collaboration is likely to strengthen the Department of Posts’ parcel business by increasing the utilization of its network and infrastructure.

The agreement aligns with the Department of Posts’ broader goal of evolving into a leading logistics provider, supporting the demands of India’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
