India is playing an increasingly influential role in shaping resilient global semiconductor supply chains under the US-led Pax Silica initiative, according to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S. Krishnan. He said India’s participation carries significant weight in discussions on technology access, critical minerals and supply chain resilience, reflecting the country’s growing strategic importance in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
Krishnan noted that India is the only developing nation in the Pax Silica grouping, a distinction that underscores its expanding role in global technology partnerships. The initiative seeks to build trusted and diversified supply chains for semiconductors, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and critical technologies, while reducing dependence on concentrated supply networks.
The MeitY Secretary added that discussions within the framework are focused on ensuring access to advanced technologies and safeguarding value chains spanning critical minerals, chip manufacturing and AI infrastructure. India’s growing involvement is expected to strengthen its semiconductor ambitions while deepening collaboration with trusted global partners.
