IKEA Expands E-commerce Reach in Delhi NCR, enters Strategic Partnership with Rhenus for Swift Deliveries

IKEA has penned down a MoU with Rhenus, a global logistics leader, to enhance the home delivery experience for customers in the Delhi NCR region. This collaborative effort is aimed at bolstering IKEA’s e-commerce expansion and ensuring swift and sustainable deliveries to its customers in the area.

As part of this partnership, Rhenus will establish a cutting-edge warehouse facility capable of storing and fulfilling over 7,000+ products. This initiative will facilitate seamless doorstep delivery to customers in the Delhi NCR region, representing a significant milestone in IKEA’s expansion journey in India. With this strategic expansion, the company aims to fulfill the majority of orders within 24 hours, leveraging technology integration to enhance flexibility and cost-effectiveness in managing its supply chain.

The northern region of India holds immense potential for the home furnishing industry, especially with cities like Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon witnessing a surge in real estate development. In response to the growing demand for home furnishings, IKEA plans to launch its omni-channel presence in the region by mid-2025, reaching customers across Delhi NCR and surrounding markets.

The upcoming warehouse facility is poised to become a premier destination for warehousing logistics services, boasting excellent connectivity to all consumption areas in and around the NCR. Situated in Gurgaon and spanning over 150,000 square feet, the facility is well-connected for inbound movements via rail, road, and air. Developed in alignment with IKEA India’s vision, the facility will be nestled within one of the largest and most modern warehouse and industrial parks in the country, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including advanced storage and material handling systems. In addition to fulfilling hundreds of orders daily, the facility will create numerous job opportunities, fostering a diverse and inclusive workspace while embracing industry-leading sustainable practices.

Commenting on the partnership, Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfillment Manager, said, “Our collaboration with Rhenus transcends decades. Bringing their expertise and experience in growing IKEA in other global markets to our operations here is an exciting opportunity for both in our India journey. IKEA is excited to announce its first foot down in Delhi, NCR, alongside Rhenus.”

The warehouse is expected to go live early next year, marking enhanced customer service and operational efficiency for IKEA in India. Establishing the first fully outsourced central distribution center for IKEA, seamlessly integrated with electronic data interchange linked to Rhenus’ Warehouse Management System for efficient transactions.
