Hong Kong Air Cargo has started dedicated freighter operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), becoming the first international carrier to commence operations from the new airport.
The airline’s freighter service began on August 16, opening a new international cargo connection for the Mumbai region. The operation connects Navi Mumbai with Hong Kong and expands the options available to shippers and logistics companies using Mumbai’s aviation and cargo network.
The launch was coordinated by Aeroprime Group, Hong Kong Air Cargo’s cargo General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) in Mumbai, in coordination with the airline, NMIA and regulatory authorities. The preparations involved commercial planning, operational readiness and regulatory clearances.
Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director, Aeroprime Group, said the launch involved close coordination between the various stakeholders.

For Hong Kong Air Cargo, the new operation is part of its expansion in the Indian market. Raymond Chen, Vice President – Commercial, Hong Kong Air Cargo, said the airline expects the new gateway to support its cargo network and connectivity with international markets.

The start of international freighter operations gives NMIA an early presence in the international air cargo market as it develops its role within the Mumbai metropolitan region’s broader aviation infrastructure.
