The Gujarat state government, under the Gujarat Industrial Development (GID) Act on Sunday said that the logistics infrastructure will be accorded priority sector status.
This will allow Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) to forge partnerships with the private sector and jointly take up big infrastructure development projects through the private public partnership (PPP) mode.
Chief minister Bhupendra Patel chaired the 39th board meeting of GIDB in the state capital on Sunday.
As per an official statement a ‘City Logistics Masterplan’ for each of the 8 big cities of the state is being finalized and the CM asked officials to ensure that planning is done keeping in mind the requirements two decades from now.
A detailed presentation of the progress being made by GIDB under the Logistics Masterplan was shown by the GIDB CEO Avantika Singh Aulakh.

As per the official states, the proposed project will soon have a consultant. The officials of the industries and mines department and other departments concerned provided an overview of the water requirements of the industry in 2050.
On the same day, the Gujarat Island Development Authority also held the board meeting in Gandhinagar. The statement said that Beyt Dwarka and Shiyal Beyt along the Saurashtra coastline will be developed as tourism hotspots and funds will be allocated for this purpose from this year’s budget of the tourism department.
The Gujarat coastline has about 150 small islands. The island development authority has been mandated to ensure overall development of these islands .
