DPIIT Workshop Emphasizes Capacity Building for Efficient Logistics and Infrastructure Development

In a significant move towards bolstering India’s logistics and infrastructure sectors, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) underscored the importance of capacity building and skill development during a workshop held on Monday. Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh highlighted the necessity of integrating logistics and infrastructure development courses into the curriculum of Central Training Institutes (CTIs) and State Administrative Training Institutes (ATIs) to equip officers with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of infrastructure development.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) in Vadodara, Gujarat, aimed to align educational curricula and training programs with the principles outlined in the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) and the National Logistics Policy (NLP). By integrating these principles into training discourse, officials are expected to gain a better understanding of logistical efficiencies, thus contributing significantly to India’s economic growth and development agenda.

Singh emphasized the critical role of capacity building and skill development in establishing efficient and cost-effective logistics and infrastructure systems. The MoCI has time and again highlighted the importance of Logistics Human Resource Development and Capacity Building as a crucial action item under the National Logistics Policy (NLP).

The workshop served as a platform for brainstorming on education strategies, curriculum development, and the integration of real-world logistics and infrastructure challenges into administrative training. It aimed to provide government officials with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully implement the PMGS-NMP and NLP, acknowledging their pivotal role in driving these initiatives forward.

In line with the objective of widely propagating the essential principles of the PM GatiShakti, efforts have been made to onboard CTIs and ATIs. This move seeks to institutionalize and regularize training and capacity building of government officials on PMGS-NMP principles, ensuring widespread adoption and implementation across various administrative levels.

With capacity building and skill development taking center stage, India is poised to enhance its logistics and infrastructure capabilities, paving the way for sustainable economic growth and development. The DPIIT workshop marks a crucial step towards realizing this vision, emphasizing the importance of empowering government officials with the knowledge and expertise needed to drive India’s logistics and infrastructure agenda forward.
