DP World Cochin shows fast recovery, records 59% growth over April

Despite the nation-wide lockdown imposed due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) operated by DP world at Cochin successfully handled over 42000 TEUs along with 35 vessels in the month of May, the global logistics company announced today.

The terminal has recorded an impressive growth of 59% over April, which is the highest amongst all the ports in the southern coast.

Moreover, the DP World Cochin terminal also handled 1500 TEUs of rail volume in the month of May and delivered an impressive five-fold increase in monthly rail volume in May, vis-à-vis the pre-lockdown monthly rail volume of slightly less than 300 TEUs.

The terminal has continued its operations throughout the lockdown period keeping the productivity at par with global standards of 32 plus moves per hour.

The terminal’s in-house developed Terminal Operating System – Zodiac, and RFID-based Automated Gate Management System enabled it to keep the Truck Turnaround Time at as low as 27 mins, informed the terminal.

DP World Cochin during the lockdown period, successful implemented 100% usage of electronic document transfer (DO/Form 13) for Coastal Import Laden Containers facilitated by Bharat Trade. It enabled the terminal to have smooth paperless transaction and offers a single window to customers and other stakeholders, as well as ensures digital exchange of data on real-time basis at the terminal. It assisted trade to virtually manage the delivery of cargo from the safety of their homes in a cost-effective manner.
