Likely to forge Agro-Processing Supply Chains Alliance
In order to expand further business ties between Thailand and India, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Minister of Commerce, Thailand, Mr H E Jurin Laksanawisit will be in Mumbai for business networking and meeting key industry leaders. He would be engaging to explore improved trade relationships with India and create a more export-oriented economy for Thailand.
The Department of International Trade Promotion and Ministry of Commerce, Thailand, together will be organising an exclusive Business Networking event where the Deputy Prime Minister would be meeting and interacting with Indian industry associations and players. The delegation travelling with the Deputy Prime Minister will consist of companies from Thailand, to explore further ties with Indian companies.
The Thai Government has been of late focusing on developing Thailand beyond tourism. The Department of Commerce, which is led by Mr Laksanawisit, has identified industries such as rubber, rubberwood, tapioca starch, construction materials and logistics, where Thailand has a lot to offer. The Ministry looks at this as an opportunity to create business relationships for Thai companies from various sectors. The networking event is being held to help interested Indian companies connect with Thai companies and explore trade opportunities which can be beneficial for both countries.
Commenting on the development, Ms Supatra Sawaengsri, Executive Director & Consul Commercial said, “India has always been one of the crucial trade economies for Thailand. We have much more to explore in terms of products which can become important trade areas for companies looking to explore newer business opportunities. The Ministry has identified products in Thailand which can be create newer ventures in other countries and to explore possible business for participating companies.”
The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand would be in Mumbai on Wednesday, September 25th 2019, to attend the event and is looking forward to meeting several top industry leaders. The Business Matching Event will be held at ITC Maratha in Andheri and the Thai Deputy Prime Minister would be addressing the audience from 10:00 am onwards. He will also witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Thailand-India Business Council (TIBC) and GlobalLinker so as to create a single online-platform for SMEs from both countries, as well as an MoU between BigBasket and DITP under Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.
