With connections to 600 international and 65 domestic cargo destinations, CSMIA continues to play a pivotal role in facilitating seamless trade and transport.

Top Categories and Noteworthy Achievements

Pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, automobiles, e-commerce, and perishables constitute the major types of goods handled by CSMIA’s state-of-the-art cargo facility. On the international front, the top three categories of products transported include automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural cargo. Domestically, consol cargo, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and post office (PO) mail took the lead.

The e-commerce surge has significantly influenced cargo operations, contributing to the impressive 87% year-on-year growth in e-commerce shipments during the festive season of 2023. Export Mangoes witnessed a record-breaking volume of 4,700 metric tons, showcasing an extraordinary year-over-year growth of 318%. Furthermore, agricultural products experienced a notable 44% year-over-year growth.

International and Domestic Cargo Dynamics

CSMIA’s international cargo volumes demonstrated a balanced composition, with 55% representing exports and 45% representing imports. Globally, top destinations for cargo from CSMIA included London, Frankfurt, Dubai, Chicago, and Amsterdam. On the domestic front, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad emerged as the top domestic cargo destinations.

Leading international airlines such as Emirates, Qatar, and Cathay Pacific, along with domestic carriers like Indigo, Blue Dart, and Air India, played a pivotal role in handling the highest cargo volumes at CSMIA, further solidifying the airport’s strategic position in both international and domestic airfreight operations.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Technological Advancements

In response to the escalating cargo demands, CSMIA is actively enhancing its infrastructure. The expansion of warehouse capacity, IT system upgrades, and the introduction of a new PEB structure in the import section aim to increase efficiency and minimize dwell time. The airport’s commitment to sustainability is evident with the implementation of the Digital Docket Delivery (D-Cube) for the import gate pass system, reducing paper usage and cargo dwell time.

CSMIA has also taken a pioneering step by launching the Air Cargo Community System Adani MIAL Air Exchange (AMAX), revolutionizing cargo operations with standard operating procedures (SOPs), integrated systems, and digitization. Mobile applications like AMAX and Turant offer transparent, paperless, and digital operations, streamlining processes and eliminating the need for physical copies in export consignments.

The introduction of E-Airwaybill, e-carting order, e-CSD, e-delivery orders, and e-gate passes ensures timely processing, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable cargo ecosystem. The airport’s initiative in launching the Air Cargo Community portal in India further enhances operational efficiency and promotes improved supply chain planning.

Looking Ahead

CSMIA remains committed to overseeing cargo operations with optimal efficiency and timeliness, ensuring the meticulous delivery of valuable goods. As the first Indian airport to embrace cutting-edge technologies and implement sustainable practices, CSMIA continues to set industry benchmarks, paving the way for a future of seamless and eco-friendly cargo operations.
