Cargo Service Center broadens operations in Kerala

Cargo Service Center (CSC) has unveiled plans for a strategic expansion in the vibrant state of Kerala, demonstrating its commitment to providing exceptional air cargo services.

Beginning June 1st, 2023, CSC assumed security functions as a BCAS Authorized Regulated Agent (RA), emphasizing its dedication to cargo safety. Fast-tracking its growth trajectory, the company inaugurated international operations at Cochin International Airport (CIAL) on August 22nd, 2023, marking a significant milestone in its journey. This expansion builds upon CSC’s establishment of services at the Cochin Domestic Cargo Terminal in 2022, firmly establishing its presence in Kerala.

During a recent address the Managing Director of Cochin International Airport Limited, S. Suhas said “CIAL is all set to embark on a new journey in its infrastructural endeavours which also includes the new import cargo terminal. CIAL’s dedicated import cargo terminal is equipped to elevate Southern India as a dominant cargo hub. A testimony to CIAL’s visionary diversification strategy, this venture anticipates a substantial surge in Kochi’s cargo transit, fortifying its position as a pivotal global trade hub. I am happy that we have a professional organization like CSC to partner with us in managing the cargo terminal. I’m sure all stakeholders will benefit from this partnership.  This is the largest cargo terminal in the state, featuring automation and advanced scanners that shall safeguard both efficiency and security ensuring seamless operations. This momentous inauguration augurs a new era, propelling CIAL’s annual cargo capacity to 2 lakh tonnes.”

 On this occasion, CSC Group Chairman,Tushar Jani said, “Cochin International Airport serves as a pivotal hub for international air cargo activities in the southern region of India. CSC’s expansion in Kerala holds immense significance, as it is the second airport in the state, alongside Kannur, where the company efficiently operates and manages the entire cargo terminal, encompassing both domestic and international cargo operations, with an unwavering commitment to enhancing air cargo services nationwide.”

 CSC operates seamlessly across both Domestic and International Cargo Terminals at CIAL, offering comprehensive cargo handling and screening services. The Domestic Cargo Warehouse spans an impressive 2,300 square meters, while the international cargo handling section covers an expansive 10,400 square meters. These state-of-the-art facilities cater to a diverse range of cargo, including perishable and temperature-sensitive goods, as well as various general and courier export and import shipments.

The expansion underscores CSC’s unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch air cargo services to both International and Domestic Carriers, ensuring the efficient movement of goods across the region. The company is poised to make significant contributions to the air cargo industry while solidifying its position in the dynamic state of Kerala.

 Key Facilities at Cochin International Airport:

Centre for Dry Cargo (CDC): An extensive 9,000 sq. mt. area dedicated to the handling and storage of import and export cargo, featuring separate sections for valuable and vulnerable cargo, dangerous goods, and a sophisticated security system.

Centre for Perishable Cargo: A modern facility encompassing 1,410 sq. mt. of space, maintained at an ambient temperature of +18°C and relative humidity, equipped with cool rooms and chambers at varying temperature ranges.

Transshipment Cargo Facilities: A dedicated warehouse designed for transshipment cargo, facilitating efficient transfers from catchment areas and other airports to Cochin Airport.

Domestic Cargo: A separate 2,300 sq. mt. center dedicated to handling and storing domestic cargo.
