CMA CGM Group, a global leader in maritime, land, air, and logistics solutions, has announced an agreement to acquire FedEx Supply Chain, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, in a deal valued at $1.4 billion. The transaction, expected to close in 2026, will significantly expand the North American contract logistics footprint of CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s logistics arm, nearly tripling its current scale in the region.
The move underscores CMA CGM’s long-standing commitment to the US market, built over more than 25 years, and advances its strategy of delivering fully integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions. With the addition of FedEx Supply Chain’s assets and nearly 10,000 employees, CEVA Logistics is set to emerge as a major contract logistics provider in North America. The combined operations will span around 150 warehouses, taking CEVA’s total regional presence to over 240 locations and a workforce of approximately 20,000.
As part of the broader transaction, CMA CGM and FedEx are also expected to enter into multi-year commercial agreements covering ocean and air freight services. Under a non-exclusive arrangement, CMA CGM will become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx, providing transport and carrier services. The two companies will also collaborate on select air cargo capacity initiatives aimed at improving aircraft utilisation and enhancing long-haul flexibility across their global networks.
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM Group, said the acquisition and partnership mark a significant milestone in the expansion of CEVA Logistics and the group’s broader logistics operations in North America. He noted that the deal strengthens CMA CGM’s ability to offer integrated supply chain solutions while reinforcing its long-term investment commitment to the United States and supporting the resilience and efficiency of its supply chains.
FedEx President and CEO Raj Subramaniam said the transaction will allow FedEx to sharpen its focus on high-value sectors such as healthcare, automotive, aerospace, and data centres. He added that streamlining the company’s portfolio positions FedEx to execute its long-term strategy while continuing to deliver strong connectivity, reliability, and value to customers worldwide. He also highlighted the potential of the partnership with CMA CGM to support the future growth of FedEx Supply Chain and its workforce.
The deal remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in 2026. The associated air and ocean freight agreements will be rolled out in phases through 2028. Morgan Stanley and Messier & Associés are advising CMA CGM financially, with Cleary Gottlieb serving as legal counsel. JPMorgan is acting as financial advisor to FedEx, with Baker McKenzie as its legal counsel.
