CMA CGM Group has completed its acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., at an enterprise value of $1.4 billion, significantly expanding CEVA Logistics’ contract logistics footprint in North America.
The acquisition brings nearly 10,000 FedEx Supply Chain employees and approximately 34 million sq ft of additional warehouse space into CEVA Logistics’ network. The combined business will operate around 150 warehouses, taking CEVA’s total North American presence to more than 240 locations and approximately 20,000 employees.
The transaction triples CEVA Logistics’ logistics footprint in North America and strengthens its capabilities across warehousing, contract logistics and value-added supply chain services. It also expands CEVA’s sector expertise in healthcare, technology, consumer and retail.
The integration will combine FedEx Supply Chain’s operational and digital capabilities with CEVA’s existing network, with a focus on accelerating the deployment of automation and robotics across North American facilities.
The acquisition is also part of CMA CGM’s broader strategy to provide integrated logistics solutions spanning ocean shipping, terminals, inland transportation, warehousing and value-added services. It reinforces the group’s more than 25-year commitment to investment in the United States.
Alongside the acquisition, CMA CGM and FedEx have entered into multi-year commercial agreements covering ocean and air freight.
Under a non-exclusive agreement, CMA CGM will become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx, providing transportation and carrier services. The companies will also explore an air cargo capacity agreement on strategic routes, including Asia-Europe, aimed at improving aircraft utilisation and providing greater flexibility on long-haul routes.
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CMA CGM Group, said the acquisition strengthens the group’s ability to offer integrated supply chain solutions across ocean, air, land and logistics, while reinforcing its long-term investment in the US market.
