BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting 2026 in Jaipur Concludes with Joint Declaration on Industrial Cooperation and Resilient Supply Chains

The Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting concluded in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, bringing together industry ministers and senior officials from member nations to advance cooperation on industrial growth, technological transformation, and resilient economic development.

Held under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR), the meeting was anchored in the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The discussions focused on translating shared aspirations into actionable frameworks that strengthen industrial ecosystems across member countries.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, addressing the gathering, highlighted the need for practical collaboration in an increasingly dynamic global environment. He emphasised that BRICS nations must leverage their complementary strengths to build resilient and future-ready industries, noting that PartNIR has emerged as a central mechanism to drive this cooperation.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening industrial partnerships within BRICS. He underscored the importance of innovation, trust, and sustained collaboration in shaping an inclusive industrial future. Reflecting on the bloc’s journey since its first summit in 2009, he acknowledged Brazil’s 2025 Chairship and reiterated India’s intent to carry forward the momentum through a pragmatic and outcome-oriented approach.

A key highlight of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration, signalling a shift from dialogue to implementation of concrete measures aimed at strengthening industries and improving livelihoods across member nations.

India also showcased progress achieved under its Chairship through PartNIR, particularly across four priority areas. Notable outcomes included the finalisation of a cooperation framework for small and medium enterprises, the adoption of a roadmap for the photovoltaic industry, and an action plan to drive innovation-led growth among startups. Discussions further underscored the importance of resilient transport and logistics systems, including GIS-based infrastructure and city logistics planning.

Participating countries shared national perspectives on industrial policy and development, collectively reaffirming their commitment to accelerating digital transformation, fostering inclusive industrial ecosystems, and enhancing cooperation to address shared challenges. The progress made under India’s Chairship was widely welcomed, with delegations noting its potential to strengthen institutional collaboration and build competitive, future-ready industries.

As part of its broader engagement, India is also hosting the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, 2026, following the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues held earlier in New Delhi.

The upcoming trade ministerial discussions will focus on strengthening the multilateral trading system, boosting MSME participation in global trade, developing resilient value chains, and facilitating cross-border digital services. The meeting is expected to further reinforce cooperation among BRICS nations while supporting India’s long-term vision of building resilient supply chains, promoting innovation-driven growth, and advancing inclusive economic development.
