Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday outlined an ambitious plan to transform Andhra Pradesh into the country’s leading logistics hub while expanding industrial corridors and creating large-scale employment opportunities.
Addressing the Assembly, Mr. Naidu said a blueprint is being drawn up to reduce logistics costs, strengthen infrastructure, and attract global investments. He emphasized the strategic importance of the state’s 1,053-km coastline, noting that lower logistics expenses would reduce production costs, benefiting both producers and consumers.
The Chief Minister announced the establishment of an Aviation University, a Logistics University, and the AP Logistics Corporation, in addition to the Centre for Excellence set up by the Government of India, to position Andhra Pradesh as a future-ready logistics hub.
Ports, Roads, and Airports
Mr. Naidu detailed plans for multi-modal connectivity by integrating roads, railways, ports, airports, pipelines, and inland waterways. He said 14,966 km of roads would be built at a cost of ₹4,500 crore, while national highway projects worth ₹1.5 lakh crore are underway, placing Andhra Pradesh second in India in highway density. Four new ports, Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Mulapeta, and Duggarajapatnam, are set to add 100 million tonnes of cargo handling capacity.
On aviation, he said the Bhogapuram Airport will be operational by August 2026, alongside new airports in Kuppam, Ongole, Tuni, and Srikakulam. Amaravati will also get a greenfield airport. “Our goal is to ensure every resident can access an airport within one hour,” he added.
Industrial Growth and Investments
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s industrial momentum, the Chief Minister said marquee investors such as Kia, Isuzu, Hero Motors, ArcelorMittal, Reliance, Google, IBM, TCS, and Accenture are strengthening their presence in the state. In the last 15 months, Andhra Pradesh has secured nearly ₹10 lakh crore in private investment commitments, with the potential to generate 10 lakh jobs, three times more than the previous government achieved in five years.
Employment and Skill Development
Mr. Naidu said 4.71 lakh jobs have already been created across sectors in the past 15 months, including 15,941 through the Mega DSC, 9,093 in government departments, 6,100 in police, 92,149 via job fairs and skill initiatives, and over 3.48 lakh in the private sector, particularly in IT, food processing, MSMEs, renewable energy, and tourism.
Unveiling his broader vision, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh is being rebuilt as “Brand AP” with trust and speed, targeting a $2.4 trillion economy, $450 billion in exports, 100% literacy, and 95% skilled manpower. He pledged to develop the state into a knowledge hub and technology destination, advancing the “one family–one entrepreneur” mission.
