Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a 150-acre Multi Modal Logistics Park along the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway near Sector-7 of Pithampur.
In addition, Gadkari in the presence of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 34 road projects spanning 1356 km of length worth INR 9,577 crore.
This upcoming Logistics Park will make exports of products made in the state to other states and abroad easier. 5 years of industry development projects have been started by MP Industrial Development Corporation around the hub. The largest of these is the Pithampur Sector-7 coming in 785 hectares.
Mohana Park, Bijepur Park, confectionery cluster and Gems and Jewelry Park are proposed in the vicinity of the hub. The logistics hub will have an 80-meter-wide road close to its proximity, which will pass through the Pithampur Industrial Area.
TI has container depots at Dhannad and CONCOR. From here, the goods will be connected to the port of Kandla, Gujarat, further through the railway route. This is where the furniture cluster is being brought in. MP Shankar Lalwani said that the future picture of the Indore region will significantly change with the help of this logistics hub.
Some other important announcements in regards to the projects in the city are:
- The foundation stone for the construction of a service road with street lights will be laid on the six-lane bypass of Indore city.
- Maintenance work will be done on Indore-Betul National Highway.
- Under the foundation stone of 20 road projects, new bridges and phone lanes will be widened on the Narmada river, mainly in the Balwara-Dhangaon section, on Khandwa road connecting Indore.
